A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

Now I am on page 70 of the new book I am reading.
Francie continues her life even though it is not easy. She enters elementary school as she gets older. School in this time period was quite different from school now; teachers were still able to physically punish children.
The rich and clean kids always set in the front of the class were they could actually learn and listen to the teacher. But kids like Francie were usually at the very back.

While Francie was walking with her father after dinner, she saw this wonderful school were all students were happy and satisfied. No abusing teachers, no bullies, and fair. Francie's mom, however, did not like the idea because she felt like Francie was already trying to go far away from her side( the new school was pretty far away from their house). Instead of understanding her, she began to care for her little son more than her daughter. Everyone in the family knew that the mom wasn't fair.

Despite all these, Francie was able to transfer to a new school. She met great teachers. The English teacher taught her how to write and from that moment, Francie learned a hole new way to express her thoughts and ideas. She was very talented in writing, which is not that surprising because she literaly lived in the city library reading all sorts of books.

I respect Francie's mom. She knew that education is one of the most important things that will help her children to grow up and accomplish what they want to do in their lives.
But treating her daughter and her son so differently makes me mad because I know how Francie would feel like when she sees her mom. Her mom puts too much expectations on Francie.

New Book!

THe new book is called "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" by Betty Smith.  I have actually read this book several times but.. I really like the book so I am reading it again!
Anyways it is 404 pages long and i am currently on page 46.

THe story begins in Williamsburg, Brooklyn of 1912.
Francie, an eleven-year-old girl,  lives on a very poor district in Brooklyn. On the weekends,  Francie and her little brother go to the junk-seller's place to trade their junks into money. Saving money is an imporant thing for them. Their mom works as a cleaning lady and their dad works as a waiter.
But there is one thing that Francie thinks as more important than anything. Reading. She loves to read. On Sundays she runs to the library and read, read, and read. ( I know that later, this becomes very useful to her)

ONce again, I realized how the enthusiesm and the excitement about things can really change how one sees the world.

A Mysterious Patch of Light

  Think And Write.

what are some fact the writer gives you?

- There was a patch of light seen in North Dakota.
- There is no big city in that part of North Dakota.
- The light is the evidence of oil boom.
- There are 150 oil companies in North Dakota.

Do you think this is unbiased report?
- yes

Why do you think so?
- There is no personal opinion in this report. Only facts.

What do you think about the technology of "fracking" ?
- I think it is not good for everyone. Drillers would be excited for all that gas, but the farmers are complaining because of the poisons in air and water.

O.o

wow... all of my recent blog is not showing.. somethings wrong with the site.. or internet i guess =.=

Anyways!

The Leviathan asked Clay to leave its body because more and more space sharks were coming into its body. The creature will surly die or damage greatly if they keep ripping the body and draw out all the oxygen left. Also the internals started to melt down like a jelly. The seeker suggested an idea to catch a bubble formed due to the internal damage to evacuate the Leviathan.
So the seeker and Clay stuck to the melting body until the bubble was formed. They were blew out to the space in a short time. But the oxygen is the bubble was not eternal and it was running out quickly.
Surprisingly, Clay and seeker found out that the sharks too, was damaged by the oxygen in the Leviathan. Then why did they get themselves into such a danger?
Clay discovered that as soon as they left the creature's body, the space sharks stopped attacking the Leviathan. It was the mad mind. It got into the sharks' head and it made them go out of control.
After the sharks were gone, they safely returned to the Leviathan again. But the captain did not welcome them. This time, the Leviathan warned them to leave now.

I actually want to her more about Alvin. All of a sudden the main character changed and now i'm about to forget about the previous stories. When will Alvin come back?

The tree of life

Now everyone knows that the mad mind is back. It is looking for Clay, for unknown reasons.
While running away from the humans, Clay and the seeker was attacked by the mad mind. They couldn't see it but the sound wave in the air was the sign of the mad mind.
The seeker decided that the earth is not safe anymore. They ran into the tree of life, which extends out onto the universe, and of course, it is huge.
For further safty, they moved into an enormous living creature called Leviathan. Inside this animal is like a small world. Many smaller creatures live and they altogether form a life pyramid.
Few days passed and Clay became very lonely. She wanted to meet just any kind of human form.
In the dark side of Leviathan, she saw a human-looking figure running pass her.

Wow. This sure is in the future. Later, Clay would know that all the creatures like the living tree or Leviathan came from the experiments of us humans. I wonder what kind of experiments were going on...

The enemy returns

As I expected, Clay attempts to run away from the city of Diaspar to find out if she is really the only one left of her kind. Another part of the reason why she ran away is because that she figured out how the new humans think of her kind as some sort of pet they made. Clay was very disappointed. Meanwhile, Alvin found out that the mad mind has truly returned. For unknown reasons, mad mind tries to find clay and harm her. Clay and the raccoon like creature(it saved clay from the lightening attack) ran away and hid in a huge body of space tree which grows near the earth.
At this point, I was slightly disappointed in Alvin and others because of how he treated Clay. I feel like Clay and I are in the same team( We would look more like clay than Alvin).

Right in the middle of the book

I just passed through the beginning of the second part. In the second part, Alvin is not quite the main character. Clay, an ur-human, losts her whole people because of the lightning attack by the mad mind. Well they assum it is the mad mind. Alvin and other people in the future look a little different from us. We are more like ur-humans. Alvin found the DNA form of the earlier humans after the earth's salvation.  As the one last ur-human in the planet, Clay get the full protection of the citizens in Lys and Diaspar. But she feels lonely and unexcepted. Even I would feel very lonely in the same situation. Beloning in a group really gives you a relief and a place to rest your heart. I think she would take the risk and run away to find out if she really is the only ur-human left in earth.
